Devils back from Saragossa

Last weekend the Gypsy Devils performed another in their series of concerts abroad. The significance of this latest show was that it took place on Slovakia Day at the world EXPO in Saragossa, Spain. But the exhibition was not only about work – the band members also found time to enjoy the various pavilions representing many countries of the world.

Devils living it up in London!

During the last few days the Gypsy Devils have managed to visit not only Estonia, but also London, where they thrilled a mainly Slovak and Czech audience at St. Peter´s Church. The three days they spent in England also gave the band a chance to get to know this fabulous city on the Thames. And then as soon as they arrived back in Slovakia, they received other offers for performances in the British Isles, so it seems the Devils will be favourites in Britain for the near future.

Gypsy Devils success in Northern Europe

The Gypsy Devils have some truly hectic days behind them! After appearing in London they flew to a country where they’d never played before – to Estonia. In the coast town of Pärnu they enjoyed the wonderful climate and also the attention shown them by the David Oistrach festival organizer and a leading figure on the estonian music scene, Alar Kaasik. At this festival the Devils core repertoire was supplemented by their original interpretation of Capriccio by Paganini and by Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2. These were received with great acclaim, as in fact was the whole of their concert, and the Gypsy Devils were rewarded with long-lasting applause.

Gypsy Devils to perform at prestigious David Oistrach festival in Estonia

The fact that the name Gypsy Devils has a ring even in classical music circles is borne out by their invitation to the David Oistrach festival in Pärnu, Estonia. This is the fruit of the band’s appearance last autumn at a festival in Helsinki, Finland, as a result of which they were approached by the organizers of this festival dedicated to the Russian violin virtuoso David Oistrach. The devils are in the midst of preparing a special repertoire for this performance. Not only did they appear as special guests at concerts of the world-famous Gipsy Kings in Bratislava and Košice, but the "Devils" and the "Kings" even played big hits like Volare and Bamboleo to the delighted audience! The Gipsy Kings were so pleased with the playing of the Gypsy Devils that they spent the whole sound check on stage with them, greeting each song played with wild applause.
